Notice what happened because David and the people of Israel set their affections on the things of the Lord:
Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the Lord: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.
(1 Chron. 29:9)
These people had just given the equivalent of 415.5 million dollars to the work of the Lord, and instead of being angry, worried or despondent they were rejoicing!

Twice in this one verse the Bible says that they were rejoicing because they had given willingly.

Obviously, to these people giving to the Lord was not a chore, a burden, a duty or an obligation, it was a "great joy!"

Well it would seem that the Body of Christ has a long way to go yet, doesn't it? Can we all honestly say that we have gotten to the place in our Christian lives that giving has truly become a "great joy"?

And yet that is exactly what it is supposed to be, what it is meant to be, what it was designed by God to be.

Giving, is the essence of living, the very reason for our being.

Godly giving is a joy!
