In the book of Jeremiah 23:29 it says: "My heart within me is broken because of the prophets: all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of the Lord, and also because of the words of His holiness."

Jeremiah was known as the weeping prophet. I asked the Lord why Jeremiah was weeping here. The Lord said read verse ten and eleven of the same chapter:
For the land is full of adulterers; for because of the swearing (or the curse of sin in the land) the land mourned; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is not right. For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the Lord.
Jeremiah was weeping because there was wickedness in God's House. King David said in Psalms 119:136, "Rivers of water run down mine eyes, because they keep not my law."

If you look at the church today as a whole there is much to be said about cleaning the body up. I recently heard a statistic, that fifty percent of the church is as much in divorce as is the world, maybe more so. That is a tragedy!

Do you want to know why the world does not respect Christians or want to become followers of Christ? It is because Christians have just as many problems and in some cases more problems than the world does.

What it really comes down to is this. It is a matter of the heart. And if the heart is the root of the problem that is where God can do His greatest work.

The Brokenness Of Heart
The first thing in this brokenness of revival, is that one has to come to the place of brokenness before God. Just like the prophet Jeremiah who was broken over the result of sin in God's house, we also must become broken over our own sin and the sin of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 3:16: "Know ye not that that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you." We are not to fall under a form of sin consciousness, even though we are to ever be resistant to sin (Eph 4:7). We really need to become more Holy Spirit conscious.

I once heard a minister say, the more we become less self-conscious and become more God-conscious then the glory of God will be seen on us. I would say that to be true. If we look at Moses, when he went on top of the mountain to meet God. He stayed there for forty day's, he was so over in the realm of God that he didn't eat or drink.

What happened to him? He became so God-conscious and less self-conscious, that when he returned from being on the mountain that the children of Israel could not look on Moses face because of the glory of God.

One Woman's Brokenness
I want to share a story with you in the Word of God about a woman that was broken before God. As a result of her brokenness, she receives forgiveness from the Lord.

In Luke 7:36-50, we see a wonderful story about a woman who did not cease to wash, wipe, and kiss the feet of Jesus in the presence of a Pharisee. When the Pharisee commented on this women being a sinner, Jesus was quick to defend her actions because of her brokenness of heart toward Him.

As you read this wonderful story, there are many factors to this woman becoming broken before God. In verse 37, we see that she was a sinner. When she came into the house where Jesus was, she brought with her a precious treasure. It was an alabaster box of ointment.

As she stood behind Jesus she began to weep and wash Jesus' feet with her tears and wipe them with the hairs of her head; she continued to kiss His feet and then anointed them with this precious ointment.

In Mark 14:3 it says she broke the box of ointment and poured it on His head. I believe that the breaking of this box was symbolic of the brokenness of her heart as a result of her sin, "for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also" (Matt. 6:21).

Even though this woman was a sinner, the Lord Jesus was concerned about her heart condition. The Word says that man looks on the outward appearance but God looks on the heart (1 Sam. 16:7).

Jesus said that because she loved much, that her sins were forgiven. When one loves God so much that they become broken over the result of sin, the forgiveness of God floods one's very soul. And true freedom and true joy comes, because one has truly been set free from the bondage of the sin that has bound him.

Thank God for the blood of Jesus that washes us from all our sins. Let us take a brief moment and take a look at another man that besought Jesus greatly.

We see this in the book of Mark 5:21-23: "When Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea. And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, and besought him greatly, saying, 'My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.'"

Jairus was one of the rulers of the synagogue. What did that mean? What that meant was, when he walked into public, people parted to get out of his way.

You see, the rulers of the synagogue were men of high reputation; they were the religious leaders of the day. When one of the rulers would go out into public and get touched by a commoner, the ruler would go home and remove his garment and bathe, because they considered all who were not of their remnant to be unclean.

But this day Jairus seemed to forget about who he was. When he found out that his daughter was dying nothing else seemed to matter. He said if he could just get to Jesus, he knew his daughter would live.

You see, Jairus humbled himself, became broken before God, and fell down before Him. As you read on in this same chapter you will find out Jesus healed Jairus' daughter.

How Is Your Brokenness?
Let me ask you a question: How is your relationship with your spouse? If you have children, how are they doing? How is your job situation? Is it really going the way you want it to go? Maybe you need to humble yourself before God and break down at His feet. If you will do this, God will come and heal your situation.

You see, we cannot hide from God. He knows what we are going through and what we are doing. In Jeremiah 23:24 it says, "Can any hide himself in a secret place that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD."

Remember, you are never alone; God will never leave you nor forsake you. He will not, assuredly He will not. That is good news. Humble yourself before God and approach Him with a broken heart; that is what always pleases the Father.

"For thus says the high and lofty One, He Who inhabits eternity, Whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and Holy place, but with him also who is of a thoroughly penitent and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the HEART of the thoroughly penitent (bruised with sorrow for sin)" (Isa. 57:15 AMP).

Do you really want revival? It starts with a repentant heart. One must be forever repentant over sin. For true revival to come there must be true repentance.

It is time to clean the house. God is calling us to holiness in every area of our lives. We must be ever-aware of what we see, hear, and do. We must be led by the Holy Spirit in every area of our lives.

We must have homes where the presence of God can dwell. Jesus is coming soon for a bride without spot or blemish. There cannot be a dirty bride's dress, for the bridegroom is about to come out of His chamber.

Are you ready to meet the Bridegroom (Jesus)? Revival is Now! Repentance is Now ! It is time to turn from the world church and turn back to God; it is time to return to your first love. Return to God and He will return to you.
