What is the definition of a faithful man?

It is apparent that a faithful man (or woman) will be working for or serving another person. It is when you work for another person, whether on the job or in church, that you have the opportunity to be faithful. There are three Scriptures that help describe a faithful person.

One of these, 1 Samuel 2:35 declares,
Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who shall do according to what is in My heart and in My mind. I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before My anointed forever.
The most notable characteristic of a faithful person is that he desires to do what is in the heart and mind of the one for whom he works. This doesn't mean he won't be creative or have suggestions; it means that his heart's desire is to help the one for whom he works fulfill his or her vision.

The second notable characteristic of a faithful person is found in Proverbs 20:6: "Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, but who can find a faithful man?"

A faithful man will promote the one for whom he works, not himself. His entire desire is to make his employer, supervisor, or pastor look good.

"A talebearer reveals secrets, but he who is a faithful spirit conceals a matter" (Prov. 11:13 NKJ).

Now we see the third notable characteristic of a faithful person. He or she will cover the weaknesses of the one they serve, not expose them. Faithfulness isn't something we are born understanding; we must learn about it and train ourselves to be that way.

Faithfulness isn't the trend of the day; yet it is an attitude that God blesses. The Bible declares, "A faithful man will abound with blessings, but he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished" (Prov. 28:20 NKJ).
