Many times people think that Christians are perfect and cannot commit sins. We are told to live a holy life and not to practice sin; however, Christians are capable of sinning, especially if we don't walk in the Spirit.
Notice what the following section of Scripture says about the flesh or sin nature of a Christian:
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.... Now the works (lust) of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.Christians who do not walk in the Spirit are capable of doing the same things they did before they became a Christian. Christians can sin even though they shouldn't. The only way to avoid sinning is to make a decision to walk in the Spirit, and not fulfill the desires of the flesh.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

As a result, everyone will see the fruit of the Spirit coming out of our lives.
