I'm in a terrible situation. According to the Word of God, what should I do in this time of trouble?

"As for me, I will call upon God, And the LORD shall save me" (Ps. 55:16 KJV).

"I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies" (Ps. 18:3 KJV).

"Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; And attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, For You will answer me" (Ps. 86:6-7 KJV).

When we find ourselves in a bad situation, we need to look to Heaven from whence comes our help. We call out to the Lord and He will hear and deliver us. A good example of this is when Paul and Silas found themselves in prison, having been beaten with rods, and chained in the innermost prison. They prayed (called on the name of the Lord) and praised God. Notice how God delivered them:
And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely. Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.

But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed."
(Acts 16:23-26 KJV)
Paul and Silas put their focus on God who dwells in Heaven. They didn't complain about their predicament or question it. They simply called out to God and gave Him praise. God fulfilled His promises to them and delivered them. These same promises exist for us today.
