There are times when each one of us could use some encouragement and support. However, it may not always arrive at the exact time it is needed. Therefore, as Christians, we need to learn how to stir ourselves up.

If we didn't possess the ability to stir ourselves up, the Bible would not have told us to do so. So let's consider a few ways in which we might do this.

Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
(2 Tim. 1:6)
In this scripture, Paul is telling the younger Timothy it is his responsibility to stir up the gift of God inside of him.

Every born again believer has the capability to stir themselves up, whether it is a gift of God like Timothy had or the fruit of the Spirit (which consists of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance).

If you are a Christian, God has put deposits on the inside of you that can be developed and stirred up. Now I would like to show you how you can stir yourself up.

By Way Of Remembrance
Notice how Paul reminded Timothy to stir himself up. Also, Peter makes it very clean in 2 Peter 1:13 "Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance." Therefore remembrance is a key in becoming stirred up.

Speaking And Hearing God's Word
We all know faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Rom. 10:17). A good example of how the Word of God stirred up people can be found in the gospel of Luke (where Jesus was brought before Pilate):
Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man. And they were the more fierce, saying, he stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.
(Luke 23:4-5)
Attitude
The only thing stopping most people from becoming stirred up is a small attitude adjustment.

Over the years, I have faced some undesirable situations in my Christian walk; instead of becoming down about it, I changed my attitude.

When I used to scrub the church toilets or work in the nursery, I realized, "Hey, I don't have to do this—I get to do this!" (see Colossians 3:23).

It's amazing how a simple attitude adjustment can make such a huge impact on our outlook and daily walk in Christ.

Therefore, I encourage you today to become stirred up and live on top of the circumstances and not under the circumstances. You'll be glad you did!
