stepmountainWe have good news for you as you begin this New Year: There is never a problem the devil has devised that God cannot fix. Not a single one!

No matter how difficult of a situation you may be facing, God has a solution. He has your victory!

The doctors may have told you there is no hope. Your bank account may be empty, and the creditors may be knocking on the door. There may be trouble in your family or on your job. Your problems may be stacked so high you feel like you can never overcome them, much less come out on top.

But Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. He made every provision for you to live an abundant life, with nothing missing and nothing broken. The victory is already yours, but you have to step into it with a spirit of faith.

The spirit of faith believes the Word of God. And it believes the Word of God just because God said it, whether or not natural circumstances agree or not. Listen to this description of the spirit of faith:

And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak,…while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Cor. 4:13, 18)

What do you need a spirit of faith for? If you want to maintain a spirit of faith in the area of healing, for example, you must start by finding out what God says about it. Then, you must choose to receive the Word as the truth. The same goes for your finances, your family, your relationships, your job, and so on. When you believe the Word of God, you open a window to your life that gives God the opportunity to enter in. Without faith there is no victory.

Once you start believing the Word of God for your situation, you will have a fight of faith on your hands. But the Bible says it’s a good fight! Why? Because you always win when you believe God. Still, it will take some hard work.

The Bible says that Satan comes immediately to steal the Word. You will be tempted to doubt and not believe. Combat this by casting down thoughts that are contrary to what Scripture says, and replace them with God’s promises, His thoughts. Keep putting the Word in your heart—every day—until faith rises up within you.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Cor. 10:5)

Having the Word in your mind is good, but having it in your heart as well is powerful. Second Corinthians says, “I believed, and therefore have spoken…” The spirit of faith stands in the midst of impossible circumstances, believes God anyway, and begins to speak the Word of God. When cancer attacks, faith doesn’t say, “I’m dying of cancer.” Faith says, “I am healed by the stripes of Jesus. Therefore, I will live and not die, and declare the works of the Lord!”

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. (Prov. 18:21)

Resolve to make a daily confession of victory using the Scriptures, even when the circumstances don’t line up with God’s Word. It’s what you believe in your heart and say with your mouth continually that comes to pass in your life.

Victory comes when you simply persist in doing things you know to do. Act on the knowledge of God’s Word and what He says. It’s imperative that you believe God and then act like you believe. Instead of looking at a negative situation, focus your attention on the promises of God. Keep them in front of your eyes and in your ears until you can see the answer coming to pass with the eyes of your spirit. That’s what the spirit of faith does.

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Cor. 4:18)

This doesn’t mean you should stick your head in the sand and ignore problems. After all, they’re real! But according to the Scripture above, those circumstances are only temporary. If you persist in an attitude of victory, God will see to it that they change.

With great expectation, just watch what He does. Those areas in your life will begin to conform to the Word of God, and you will step into this year as your year of victory! Praise God!
