Why isn't anything happening? Why is it taking so long? Have you found yourself asking these questions? If so, then keep reading.

When you've done all you know to do...you're standing, believing, praying, confessing and still...no breakthrough, then it's time you found out why isn't anything happening!

Get ready because you're about to discover your answer. I asked the Lord one time why it was taking so long for my breakthrough and He led me to Mark 9:
And he (Jesus) asked the scribes, What question ye with them? And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.
(vv. 16-18)
The disciples attempted to cast the devil out of that boy, and they couldn't. Now later, Jesus did cast the devil out, and then in verse 28, it says, "And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?"

You could say, "Why didn't anything happen?" or "Why didn't we get results?" In other words, the situation remained the same after they did everything they knew to do. Sound familiar?

Verse 29 says, "And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting."

There are times when fasting is a must. In other words, you will not get any results unless you include fasting in your spiritual exercise.

In the Amplified, the words "and fasting" are italicized, and in the footnote it says, "some manuscripts add and fasting," meaning that the original didn't have the word fasting there. Jesus actually said, "This kind comes not out but by prayer."

There is a place for fasting, and there are times when you will not get any results if you don't include fasting, but I want to deal with the subject of prayer.

When I read that scripture, I asked the Lord, "Explain that to me."

I believe the Spirit of God said this to me. He said, "Either they didn't pray at all, they didn't pray correctly, or they didn't pray long enough."

I've heard Brother Copeland say many times, "Any failure in a Christian's life is a prayer failure." There's our answer right there.

You may be asking: "Why isn't anything happening? Why aren't we getting anywhere with this situation? Why is it taking so long? How much longer am I going to have to stand?" Read Luke 18:1.

"And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint."

In the Amplified it says that men ought always to pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up). I heard the Spirit of God say this to me: "You pray until you get the wisdom of God for what to do."

If you're not experiencing a breakthrough, if you're not experiencing results, then there has to be a lack of wisdom in your life.

The Bible says:
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God...
(James 1:2-5)
Notice how James connects going through trials and the need for wisdom. Did you see that? In other words, if there's any one thing you and I need when we're going through a test or a trial, it's the wisdom of God.

Asking of God constitutes prayer. Have you ever been deficient in wisdom? I have. I admit it. There have been times when I just didn't know what else to do. I had done everything I knew to do. In other words, I had a deficiency of wisdom.

Proverbs 1:33 (AMP) says, "But whoso hearkens to me [Wisdom] shall dwell securely and in confident trust and shall be quiet, without fear or dread of evil."

Proverbs 2:10,12 (AMP) says, "For skillful and godly Wisdom shall enter into your heart, and knowledge shall be pleasant to you. To deliver you from the way of evil and the evil men, from men who speak perverse things and are liars."

When you're desperate for the wisdom of God and you need some answers, that is not the time to watch television.

That is not the time to read the newspaper. That is not the time to get around unbelief. In other words, you have to make it a priority to get the Wisdom of God. And there are times when you have to turn off something and turn on something else. That's called desperation.

And if you're desperate, you'll create an atmosphere for faith! Through faith, the breakthrough that you're believing for will begin to manifest itself in your life.
