"And Jesus said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer" (Matt. 21:13).

It is our responsibility and our duty to give ourselves to intercessory prayer for our families. We are the ones who are required by God to pray for our children, our spouse, and our parents. God is counting on us.

I've heard so many parents complain that their children are rebellious, or they are hanging around with the wrong crowd or they're experimenting with drugs. Instead of crying, complaining, and staying up all night worrying about your children - get on your knees and pray. Begin praying everyday for your children.

Philip Henry says, "The best way to fight against sin is to fight it on our knees." Prayer is not some weak, impotent useless thing. Prayer is the most powerful thing that we have to use. I'm telling you, prayer will move things in your behalf. Whatever it is in your life that gives you the most heartache or trouble or causes you to lose sleep at night can be dramatically changed simply by committing yourself to pray.

God wants us to be so moved in our spirit that we are not so concerned about getting our 10 or 12 hours of sleep each night, but instead we're willing to wake up and pray for the person God wants us to pray for. God needs a vessel He can use - He needs a voice to speak out the Word into the atmosphere.

Lamentations 2:19 says, "Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out shine heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger in the top of every street."

I want you to know, nothing is going to change in your life and family just by praying little mediocre silent prayers. You have to use your voice to voice it into the atmosphere. Your words change things. Your words never die. The words that you have spoken over your family are out there in the atmosphere even now.

God is calling every person in the body of Christ to create a house of prayer. He's trying to get our minds off of ourselves, off of the natural, off of the carnal, and get our minds onto the spiritual. Get fed up with your family going to hell. Quit praying weak prayers that have no power in them. Get serious about seeing to it that every member in your household is born again, filled with the Holy Ghost and going to spend eternity with Jesus.

It is only going to come by you making a decision to devote time each day with your Heavenly Father. How bad do you want to see your husband serving God? How bad do you want to see your kids eager to go to church and reading their Bible on their own? It all depends on how serious you are about praying for them.

Remember this: God moves where He is invited. God is not looking for great ability, He's looking for great cooperation. He's looking for people who desire to see Him move and who are more hungry for Him than they are for anything else on the earth.

You, not God, produce an atmosphere of expectancy! God's always there. God's always ready to pour out, but you have to come in with the spirit of expectancy. Expect your family to be on fire for God and serving Him with everything in them. When your children walk in the door, they should sense the presence of God in your house because you have already created the atmosphere for the day with your prayers.

You can get into a place where you are practicing the presence of God about you all the time. You can pray when you're getting dressed in the morning, when you're driving to work, and when you're making dinner. Become conscience of the presence of God around you all the time. He can use you and speak through you at any time.

God wants to use you to pray for your family. He can relieve you of burdens. He can give you visions. He can give you dreams. He can transform you right where you are, sitting in your house. So start today—begin spending time with your Father, present your family members before Him, be disciplined in your prayer life and put a sign on your refrigerator that says, "My house shall be called a house of prayer."
