When you're hungry, you'll press into the things of God and become a prime target for God's blessings. God will fill you with His Spirit. Spiritual hunger helps you continue being filled.
Spiritual hunger is the key ingredient to plug into the anointing and receive God's touch. Jesus said in Mathew 5:6: "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled."

If there is no hunger, there is no infilling. We're hungry for God's Word, and the fullness of the Holy Spirit, to live in God's perfect will all the time, to always be in right fellowship with the Father. Spiritual hunger is key to spiritual progression.

My Own Spiritual Hunger
On August 23, 1983, a friend who worked in the Crocker Bank Building in Santa Monica, California, led me in the prayer of salvation. From that day on my life radically changed absolutely for the better.

Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except by Him (John 14:6). Right after I prayed the believer's prayer and received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, I asked the Lord to baptize me in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues.

But I didn't receive the manifestation of the baptism until I pressed in and truly desired to be filled.

On my way to the university after work on August 30, I prayed: "Thank you Lord for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, last week I prayed for this and believe I received when I prayed. But Lord, now I really want the manifestation of the Baptism and want to pray in other tongues! In Jesus' Name."

I really wanted the Baptism! I wanted to be filled with the Holy Ghost. About 4 hours after the prayer, I finished the class session and walked to the parking lot. As I walked I felt such a joy and bubbling in my belly. Opening my mouth to praise God, I started speaking a few words in a heavenly language. Glory to God!

I was leaping, skipping, and praising God all the way to the car. I was extremely happy, joyful, thankful for my new heavenly language, wanted to pray instead of sleep, continued speaking in tongues until I fell asleep late at night.

When I awoke I continued where I left off, praying in tongues. One of the first words I spoke was "Abba," which means "Daddy" in Hebrew, which my friend later told me.

"For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness" (Ps. 107:9).

When you're hungry, you'll press into the things of God and become a prime target for God's blessings. God will fill you with His Spirit. Spiritual hunger helps you continue being filled. You'll walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Gal. 5:16).

Praise God!
