Is anyone among you afflicted (ill-treated, suffering evil)? He should pray.
(James 5:13 AMP)
Are you suffering? Afflicted? Going through a rough time? You should pray!

Sometimes, when life is hard and we are suffering, we want someone else to fix it for us. We want someone else to meet our needs or make us happy. We want someone else to pray for us and make our pain go away. Thank God for friends who pray with us and for us, but…

The Lord makes it clear that when we go through a tough time, we should pray! That means, the first person who should pray when we something comes up is us! First, we should be the ones who get up early, get on our knees, bury our face in a pillow and pour out our hearts to the Lord. Then we can call our prayer warrior friends to agree with us in prayer.

Be encouraged, if you are suffering or afflicted during this season—you should pray! The Lord would not tell you to pray if He did not intend to answer your prayers. That is good news. He wants us to pray and give Him something to work with.

If you continue to read James 5, it goes on to say this: "The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]." (James 5:16 AMP)

Today, be encouraged with these thoughts. If you are going through a hardship, your earnest, heartfelt and continued prayers to the Lord make tremendous power available for you!

Say It: Father, I lift up the affliction, suffering and difficulty I have been going through to You and I am so glad that You are bigger than anything I face. I know that my earnest, heartfelt and continued prayers will make tremendous power available in my life. I believe that starting right now—You are working healing, restoration and solutions into my life. I ask You for the wisdom I need to walk it all out. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
