When I was about 15, I worked in a bakery. It was my job to make sure that the glass display cases were sparkling, floors mopped at the end of the day and of course, sell those donuts. It was great experience for me and, as my brother Deril used to say, I made a lot of dough.

The husband and wife that owned the shop were hard working people. They were up at dawn six days a week, mixing, baking and icing delicate creations that filled the display cases. The success of their shop was directly related to the amount of dedication and commitment that they were willing to put into their family business.

As part of God's family, the work that we do for Him is very serious business. We must be dedicated to serving Him and committed to doing His will in order to successfully reach the world with the Gospel. It is time for us to follow Jesus' example and be about our Father's business!

We all know the story about Jesus astounding the teachers in the temple when He was only 12 years old. The Amplified Bible says that, "All who heard Him were astonished and overwhelmed with bewildered wonder at His intelligence and understanding and His replies" (Luke 2:47).

But the part of this story that always sticks with me is the answer that Jesus gave His parents after they had been searching frantically for Him for three days.
And He said to them, "How is it that you had to look for Me? Did you not see and know that it is necessary as a duty for Me to be in My Father's house and about My Father's business." But they did not comprehend what He was saying to them.
(Luke 2:49-50)
Jesus knew His purpose for coming to the earth and was very serious about His Father's business. Everything He said, and everything He did, was in direct obedience to the will of His Father. He came to destroy the works of the devil and bring abundant life to the world.

Open For Business
After 30 years of preparation, Jesus made His formal announcement to the world that He was open for business. He walked into the synagogue of His home town of Nazareth and boldly proclaimed:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me because He has anointed me, the Anointed One, the Messiah, to preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed, who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity. To proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound.
(Luke 4:18-19)
Now you would think that the people in Jesus' hometown would have rejoiced when Jesus announced that the Anointed One had come with good news! The poor did not have to be poor any more. You would think that the poor, oppressed, bruised, captive and blind people in that synagogue would have lined up for their miracle.

But even though they marveled at His words, they could not accept His message. All they could think about was, Is not this Joseph's son? As a result, they missed their day of visitation. They missed out on all of the marvelous things that God wanted to do for them that day.

During these last days before the return of Jesus to the earth, God is visiting us with outpourings of His Spirit. Now, don't make the mistake of being critical and miss out on all the marvelous things God has prepared for you! The day of increase is here! The day of blessing is here! The day when salvation and free favors of God profusely abound is finally here! Determine in your heart to hear and receive God's wonderful message and you will experience days of heaven on earth. Glory to God!

Healing Is The Children's Bread
I always get inspired when I read about women and men of strong faith in the Bible. The mother that begged at the feet of Jesus for the healing of her demon possessed daughter in Matthew 15:22-28 is one of my favorites.

Although she was a Canaanite, and not of the house of Israel, she had locked her focus on the Anointed One and was determined to get what she came for. I tell you, that woman was not concerned about what people thought that day. She couldn't care less about the opinion of men. All she could think about was getting her daughter delivered as she repeatedly cried out for mercy from Jesus.

When she didn't get an answer from Jesus, she turned to the disciples for help. She pestered them so much that the disciples came to Jesus to get her off their back.

Have you ever been that determined? Have you ever locked your focus on God's Word until you got what you came for? That mother could have given up. She could have gotten offended when her pleadings seemed to be ignored by Jesus and His disciples. She could have lashed out in anger. But because she was pure of heart and concerned only with the needs of her daughter, she got Jesus' attention.

And He answered, "It is not right (proper, becoming, or fair) to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs" (v. 26). Now that would have ticked off most people. But this was a very unusual woman. "She said, Yes, Lord, yet even the little pups (little whelps) eat the crumbs that fall from their young masters' table" (v. 27).

Now she got the attention of Jesus. Faith always pleases God and the strong faith of this dear mother tapped into the power of the Anointed One. "Then Jesus answered her, O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you wish. And her daughter was cured from that moment" (v. 28).

Now the thing that I want you to see today is Jesus' answer in verse 26. "...It is not right (proper, becoming, or fair) to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs." Jesus referred to healing as the children's bread. If you are a child of God, healing belongs to you! If sickness attacks you or someone you love, you can reach out for your healing and say, "Pass the bread!"

Jesus' precious blood was shed on the cross to provide healing for your body. No matter what the enemy says, Jesus has put that lying devil out of business forever! If the devil tries to shut down your healing, tell him to keep his nose out of your business.

After all, your healing is none of his business. Healing and life belong to you! Now it is up to you to carry on the family business. Never allow doubt or offense to shut the doors. Stay in faith and keep the healing door wide open. Pass the bread!

A Family Tradition
While on the earth, Jesus sent out the 12 and gave them power to bring healing to their generation (Luke 9:1-2). Then later Jesus sent out 70 more with the message of the Gospel and to heal all (Luke 10:1,8-9). Just as the disciples brought this message to their generation, so must we. God is still in the business of saving the lost and healing the sick. I guess you could say that it is a family tradition.

So many people have never heard about the goodness of our God. They haven't heard how God anointed Jesus with the Holy Ghost...who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil (Acts 10:38). In these last days before the return of Jesus, God is calling for workers in His great Kingdom.

Today, as you determine in your heart to carry on the family tradition, God can use you to bring His message of healing to the sick. Just as the people of Jesus' day rapidly spread the news from village to village and house to house, you too can tell all that God sends your way that salvation, healing, prosperity and joy are all part of the business. They don't have to stay sick, poor and oppressed.

The Anointed One has come to carry on the Father's business and bring abundant life to all that receive Him.
