"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Phil. 4:19).

The modern dating scene is designed to make you feel stupid or weird if you don't have a date. It makes you feel that you have to have somebody to love on you, or have on your shoulder, or have your arm around in order to be worth anything. You feel like a social misfit if you don't have someone to go out with.

The modern dating game is a game of going out with whoever looks the cutest or whoever looks the toughest. You are so busy trying to be what you think the other person wants, you are never really yourself. You really don't know if the person likes you or not because you have been fake with each other the whole time.

It's a game of looking "cutesy, cutesy" all the time and wondering what so-and-so is saying about so-and-so and I like this guy/this girl and he is saying such and such about so-and-so. And she wants to date someone else but he's mad at her because she...and so on!

What About What God Wants?
It's just a big game that totally distracts you from what God really wants to do in you and through you.

This whole teenage love thing totally rips people out of their walk with God. They get so distracted by some guy or girl who mesmerizes them that they forget they really should be seeking God and not another person.

I have talked to many young people who have compromised their Christian walk by allowing themselves to get into the situation described above. The Bible talks about loving the Lord our God with all of the heart, soul, and mind (Matt. 22:37).

Your desire for him needs to be stronger than your desire for a date, stronger than your desire for a girlfriend or boyfriend, and the acceptance you think you might get from that. Many times you probably think, I need to have a boyfriend (or girlfriend); I need to be loved by somebody.

Only God Can Meet That Need
Let me tell you, God knows what you need. The problem is this: if you think you need somebody, you're not ready for anybody. Your need for love and acceptance cannot be met by another person; it can be met only by God.

Today's verse says that God will supply all your needs. God knows what you need - He made you. He knows what you're made of, and He knows how to meet your needs. You don't need a boyfriend or girlfriend. You need a relationship with Jesus. You need to be tied up in God more than you have ever been in your life.

The Bible says that He knows your needs. As you are hooked up in Him, He will meet these needs. So if you feel as if you need another person, you really need to quote and chew on this verse all day long. Trust that God will do what He says because He never lies. He promised, "I will meet every one of your needs."

I know that this sounds radical, and it sounds drastic, but if you are going to change your generation, then you are going to have to see through this game. It will only pull you down and suck the life out of you. You will soon forget the fire you once had.

Take Philippians 4:19 and chew on it today, anytime you feel you have a need. Concentrate on this Scripture especially if you feel you need a girlfriend or boyfriend. I want you to take this verse and cram it down your throat and have confidence that God will supply your need.
