The peace of God is supernatural. The peace of God will guard your mind. It will guard your heart. It will guard your emotions. It will guard your body against the salt. The peace of God will garrison and mount guard over you. When you lose peace, when you get nervous that's when all kind of negative things happen. So he said here to first of all be anxious for nothing.
"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" (Phil. 4:6-7).

This scripture tells us the peace of God, which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through the Anointed One Jesus.

The Amplified translation says it this way, and "God's peace shall be yours that tranquil state of so assured of his deliverance through the Anointed One. And so fearing nothing and being content with his earthly lot of whatsoever sort that is, that peace which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in the Anointed One Jesus" (Phil. 4:6-7 AMP).

That's the peace of God.

So here's the first ingredient that you've got to have: You have to make the decision to humble yourself unto the mighty hand of God. The first thing He said was don't have any worry, don't have any anxiety, don't have any fear, and He said about anything!

Don't worry about your wife. Don't worry about your kids. Don't worry about anything!

First Timothy chapter 4:4 says, "For every creature of God is good and nothing to be refused if it be received with thanksgiving." There's the word if. If it be received with thanksgiving for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

Now most of us as Christians have been trained to pray before we eat. And some of you know that even if you're in the White House you don't care if everybody else dives in, you're going to pray first! It doesn't matter where you are, you don't even care. You don't even look around to see whose looking.

You have trained yourself to give God thanks first when it comes to food. But most people aren't trained to do that with prayer. They're not trained to do that.

Giving thanks is the first thing you need to do when you approach God in prayer, the first thing you need to do before you start making your definite requests, before you start making your petitions.

Many times, I've found that when I start getting into a season of thanking God I don't even ask the request any more because it brings me back to the remembrance that it's already handled.

I was praying today, and before I started praying the first thing I started to do was thanking God. I'm going to tell you some of the things I started thanking God for.

I said, "Father I want to thank You for my life. I'm alive. I want to thank You Father that I can stand up on my two legs and walk. I want to thank You that I can hear through my ears. I want to thank You that I can speak.

"Father I want to thank You because You gave me a house to live in. And I want to thank You because you gave me a wife to be with me. And I want to thank You Father because You gave me three wonderful children that are saved. You saved them and filled them with the Holy Spirit and they love You. Father I want to thank You.

"I want to thank You Father because You gave me a job. I thank You for it. Thank You Father because You gave me an automobile I can drive to work in. And I thank You Father that You gave me suits that I can wear. I want to thank You..."

By the time I got to thanking and thinking about all the things to be thanking God for I forgot what I was praying about! And the more I started giving God thanks, the more I started getting lit up.

I said, "I may not have all the money in the account that I would like to have in the account right now but I thank You there's some money in there. Glory to God. Hallelujah. I thank You Father that I don't have to pan handle on the street. I thank you Father, bless God, You have provided my every need."

By the time I finished thanking God, I had PEACE! Thanksgiving is the key to peace.

Remember He said to make your prayer your supplication but to do it with thanksgiving. Make sure you thank God, and then the peace of God shall garrison over your heart and mind. Then the peace will come.
