"In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." (1 Thess. 5:18)

I want to encourage you to take on the attitude of faith. No matter what your circumstances or situations are, give thanks to the Lord!

You may be experiencing a great time in your life or a challenging one. In either case, stay in faith, trust in the Lord and know He is faithful, just, and good!

As His children, we should be keeping our hearts focused on the goodness of our Father. I want you to notice that 1 Thess. 5:18 instructs us to give thanks in all things, not for all things.

Some people have the mistaken religious belief that we are to thank God for everything that is happening to us, regardless if it is good or bad. This is one of the deceptive lies that the devil uses to kill, steal, and destroy the body of Christ with.

God does not send evil circumstances your way to teach you a lesson. No, when tragedy or temptation strikes, we are not to thank God for them. He is not the author of evil.

Instead, we should be thanking Him for His answer to these challenges. He's the One who provides our way of escape from them. He’s the One who provides the healing, the provision, and the blessings, even in the midst of the storm you are facing.

This is the attitude of faith. Giving thanks in everything. Not only in the good times, but during the challenging times as well.

Jesus knew how to give thanks in everything.

When you read the four Gospels, you'll find that Jesus never gave thanks for sickness, death, poverty or lack. Instead, when He encountered them, His response was to overcome these situations and circumstances with and by the power of God.

For example, when He was facing the death of his friend Lazarus, He turned to the Father and gave Him thanks. He did not thank Him that Lazarus died. No, He thanked the Father for hearing Him. He said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.” (John 11:41)

Then, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” (John 11:43) And Lazarus was raised from the dead.

While on a boat, the disciples awakened Jesus from His sleep during a terrible storm. Jesus did not thank God for the storm. No! He rebuked the storm, their circumstance changed, and the storm stopped.

If the storm of sickness has hit your household, praise God, and give Him thanks in the middle of that sickness. Thank Him for your healing! If the storm of poverty has attacked your home, praise God in the middle of that poverty. Thank Him for your deliverance and thank Him for His provision.

Do what Jesus did. Give thanks as Jesus gave thanks. Not for Satan's activities, but for the victory God has given you in His name. And you will begin experiencing the power of God at work in your life!
