Psalm 5:12 (NLT)
For you bless the godly, O Lord, surrounding them with your shield of love.

All Christians have one thing in common that we must try to accomplish. That is to become more and more like Jesus, to be godly people. It is a daily fight with the flesh and the worldly influences.

It is making a choice every day to follow Christ and to do God's will for our lives.
God blesses the godly. He gives them all of His benefits to enjoy here on earth as well as when we go to heaven. He shields us with His love from the enemy. This doesn't mean bad things won't happen to godly people. It means He surrounds us and covers us with His love so when the storms of life come our way, we are able to withstand and survive.

Some people think God's benefits are only financial, but the Bible says God will meet all our needs (including physical, emotional, and spiritual). We must not judge people based on the outward appearance. Having material possessions, living in luxury, or being at the top of the corporate ladder is not a sign of how godly a person is or how blessed they are.

On the other hand, when someone is fighting an illness or has lost their job, for example, it is not an indication of how ungodly they are or that their suffering is a consequence of sin. No, we live in this world where we will be attacked in different areas of our lives.

We must pray for our brothers and sisters and believe with them for their victory
without judging them. That is being godly—when our hearts are pure toward God and toward people. God's love shields us from the enemy. He surrounds us all with His love. "God is my shield, saving those whose hearts are true and right" (Psalm 7:10 NLT).
