Jesus The True Vine

A Verse A Day
Written by Tim Davidson
"I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman."
(John 15:1)

Jesus is the genuine article in the vineyard. Jesus said that He is the true vine. Jesus also said that His Father was the vineyard keeper, the gardener who keeps all things nourished and well cared for.

Where do we come into this relationship between Jesus and the Father? We are brought into the family of God by the new birth. We are, in essence, grafted into the true vine and we become part of God's great big garden.

The Message Bible says: "I am the Real Vine and my Father is the Farmer."

God only has one vineyard and Jesus is the true vine growing there. If we aren't connected to Him, then we aren't truly a part of the vineyard. The Father God is our Father and He takes care of us the same way He took care of Jesus. All the hoeing, weeding, fertilizing, watering, and tender touching we require will be given by our Heavenly Father's hand.

Even Jesus the Son of God acknowledged that He needed the Father in the role of His caregiver. If Jesus being the true vine, needed God's nourishment and care, how much more do we need it?

Today's Thought to Take With You:
Jesus is the true vine and I am a true branch. My nourishment and care come from Him.
