Called Out Of Darkness Into Light

A Verse A Day
Written by Tim Davidson
"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."
(1 Peter 2:9)

This verse has so much to tell us about ourselves. We are called to come out of darkness and to walk in the marvelous light of our salvation in Jesus Christ. The kingdom of darkness is no longer our home turf. We have been changed by Love.

The Message Bible says: "But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God's instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you."

Have you ever heard the expression that a leopard can never change its spots? That's true, but God can. Humpty Dumpty couldn't put himself together again, either. But God can. The same is true for our dark lives of indulgence and wrongdoing. Without a Savior we are never going to change our own ways sufficiently to satisfy the claims of justice. But God has now done it for us through Jesus.

Today's Thought to Take With You:
God has called me out of darkness and into light. Because of Jesus, I'm now out.
