Jesus became like man and through His death destroyed the power of the devil! Remember we are the seed of Abraham because we are of faith. The scripture says God favors us so much (vs. 16) that He will give aid to us when He will not give aid to His own angels.
That almost sounds impossible, but the Word of God says it.
In Hebrews 9:11-14 it says:
But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Heb. 9:11-14)
Hebrews 9:24 says Christ didn't enter the Holy of Holies where the earthly priests went.
"For Christ, the Messiah, has not entered into a sanctuary made with [human] hands, only a copy and pattern and type of the true one, but [He has entered] into heaven itself, now to appear in the [very] presence of God on our behalf. Not did He [enter into the heavenly sanctuary to] offer Himself regularly again and again, as the high priest enters the [Holy of] Holies every year with blood not his own; for then would He often have had to suffer, [over and over again] since the foundation of the world. But as it now is, He has once for all at the consummation and close of the ages appeared to put away and abolish sin by His sacrifice [of Himself]. And just as it is appointed for [all] men once to die and after that the [certain] judgment, even so it is that Christ having been offered to take upon Himself and bear as a burden the sins of many once and once for all, will appear a second time, not carrying any burden of sin nor to deal with sin, but to bring to full salvation those who are (eagerly, constantly and patiently) waiting for and expecting Him." (Heb. 9:24-28 AMP)
Look at what these scriptures are saying. The high priest had to offer himself in the Holy of Holies on a yearly basis. Jesus took His own blood and went into the Holy of Holies, the real Holy of Holies in heaven - not the imitation down here. He went into the presence of God for us to put away our sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
Jesus was the perfect sacrifice. His blood did away with sin once and for all. He bore the sins of many - that is for all of us who believe. When we see Him again He will be apart from sin. Sin is gone - done away with completely.
The devil thought he had killed Jesus, but verse 26 tells us it was "by the sacrifice of Himself." If the devil had known what was going to happen when Jesus laid down His life, he and the demon hosts wouldn't have crucified Him.
First Corinthians 2:8 says, "Which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory." Satan is afraid of the blood. He would have never killed Jesus if He had known what the blood would do. That is why we must understand the significance of Jesus' blood.
