Keep Yourself Pure so God Can Use You

Devotionals for Working Women
Written by Marcia Malzahn

2 Timothy 2:21 (NLT)

If you keep yourself pure, you will be a utensil God can use for his purpose. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.

As Christians, we are called to be holy, to be pure, and live a godly life. It is an everyday fight for as long as we live here on earth. The temptations are all around us. We all have weak areas in our lives the enemy knows about. He will continually test us in the same area for as long as we fail until we conquer the temptation. Once we conquer one area, he will move to another one to continue the testing.

In the workplace you may encounter many temptations such as gossiping, becoming jealous, drinking, betraying a friend, stealing company resources (including excessive time spent chatting and socializing instead of working), etc. The opportunities to not
stay pure are countless. The only way you can stay pure is by spending time with the Lord, meditating on His Word all the time, and choosing your friendships carefully.

We are to love everybody with the love of God. Yet the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 6:14 (NLT) "Don't team up with those who are unbelievers. How can goodness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?" Therefore, we are not to fellowship (have an intimate friendship) with unbelievers. We are to love them
but strive to stay pure so God can use us for every good work.
