Anointed Word Daily Devotion for Youth
Written by Sean Moore
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (2 Cor. 5:17 KJV).
Being born again is like being born as a natural child. You would agree that a baby needs to learn some things after entering the world. Likewise there are some things you must learn in your spiritual walk with God.
Although you are recreated in your spirit, your mind and your body were not made new. You have to renew your mind with the word of God so that you can be strong and stable in God. The renewal occurs as a result of searching the Scriptures.
James 1:21, for instance, says to lay aside all filthiness. God wants you to avoid filthiness because the devil is attracted to filth. And you are not of the devil. You are born again with the nature of God in you. Having that nature, lay aside the filth and "...receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your soul."
Your soul is your mind, will and emotions. You can change your thinking, your desires, and stabilize your emotions. Before you were born again, you thought whatever the world did was okay. But now you must check with the Word so that you will think and act according to the Scripture.
The mind is sort of like a computer. If you want to keep up with the latest and greatest software, you have to constantly search for the new thing on the market. You have to upgrade your computer when necessary so that it can receive all the new software that comes out.
In the same way, your mind has certain thoughts. And the Bible is full of God's thoughts, His way of doing things. When you constantly search the Word of God you are pouring His Word inside of you, bringing yourself up to a higher way of thinking - God's way of thinking. You come to a place where you present your body to God, not because someone told you to, but because you want to.
By constantly searching the Scriptures you put yourself in position to receive so much revelation from God that you can do nothing else but succeed in life.
Scripture Reference: Romans 12:1; Joshua 1:8; Philippians 4:13
