365 Confessions for Kids
Written by Virginia Kite

July 1
"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us…that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith."

- Galatians 3:13a-14

Note to Parents:
A portion of the curse within the old law declared that the sins of the fathers would be visited upon their children even to several generations (see Exodus 34:7). Many Bible scholars agree that this does not mean God punishes children for the sins of their parents, but that if unprotected, the child may be open to demonic activities which had controlled parents, grandparents, or other ancestors. The protection God provides is, of course, the blood of Jesus.

The following confession is lengthy but powerful. If there is any question of controlling problems or sins in the child's ancestry, I recommend that this confession be spoken over and spoken by the child. And because we know Satan will often leave for a season and then try to return, periodic faith-filled declarations of these words can certainly do no harm.

Confession:
Father, Your Word says that when I accepted Jesus I was redeemed from the curse of the law. Part of the old law said that sins of the parents would come upon the children for many generations.

I don't know all my ancestors. I don't know if they did bad or good deeds in their lives. I want to be sure I have no curse from the devil on my life, because of anything someone else in my family has done.

So in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, I break any power of the devil over my life! I break the power of any sin from any past generations. I resist any curse the devil has tried to put on our family!

I am free in Jesus! I'm a new creation! I am washed in the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. No evil can hinder my life. I have authority over the devil. He has no authority over me! Jesus, You are my Lord. You live in me, and I live in You. I am redeemed. Thank You, Jesus!
