“Whatever you ask in my name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”
The name of Jesus has been given to us to use. We can ask in Jesus’ name and He said He would do it. The name of Jesus is like a huge bank account reserved for us in heaven. Whatever we ask in Jesus’ name is like drawing a check against that provision. He said it is up to us to fill in the amount.
The Message Bible says: “From now on, whatever you request along the lines of who I am and what I am doing, I’ll do it. That’s how the Father will be seen for who he is in the Son. I mean it.”
We must not be ignorant, weak Christians who don’t realize what has been given to us. As we find out from the Word of God what the will of God is, we must act upon it. If we don’t, it would be like the richest man in the world living in poverty because he doesn’t believe he can draw on the accounts that belong to him. That would be silly, wouldn’t it?
Whatever I ask in Jesus’ name, He will do so the Father may be glorified in the Son.
