Bear Much Fruit

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.”

(John 15:8 NASB)

As we abide in Jesus and His Word abides in us, we will become fruitful in our walk with Christ and God will be glorified. God desires that we will bear much fruit of our relationship with Jesus. We help to show the world who God really is, and what God is really like, when we bear much fruit through our personal lives.

The Message Bible says: “This is how my Father shows who he is—when you produce grapes, when you mature as my disciples.”

When we develop into fruitful disciples of Jesus, God the Father is honored. To be a fruitful disciple of Jesus we must learn from Him His Word, His ways and His will. To be a “disciple” means to be a student, a pupil, and a learner of Jesus.

We must not only learn about Him, but we must learn from Him as well. We must receive His heart, His love, and His respect toward people. We must gain knowledge of His attitudes, His actions and His character. Our Christ likeness glorifies our Father.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I am a disciple, a student of Jesus Christ, and I glorify God by bearing much fruit in my life so others may see and be drawn to God.
