Changing Passwords in PC and Mac Email Programs

Outlook Express / Windows Mail

  1. Launch the Outlook Express/Windows Mail application.
  2. Select the Tools menu
  3. Choose Accounts
  4. [Outlook Express only] The Internet Accounts window will open
  5. Select View or change existing e-mail account radio button
  6. Click on the Mail tab
  7. Highlight your account name
  8. Click the Properties or Change button, or just double-click on the email account you want to update
  9. Click the Servers tab
  10. In the Password: field, type in your new password
  11. Click the Settings button
  12. The Outgoing Mail Server window will open
  13. Be sure Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected
  14. Click the OK button.
  15. Click the Apply button
  16. Click the OK button.
  17. Click the Close button.


Mac Mail

  1. Launch the Mail application
  2. Select the Mail menu
  3. Choose Preferences from the list
  4. The Preferences window will open. Click the Accounts icon
  5. In the Accounts column on the left side of the window, highlight your account
  6. Click the Account Information tab
  7. Type your new password in the Password: field
  8. Click the Server Settings button. Information about your smtp settings will appear
  9. Type your new password in the Password: field
  10. Click the OK button.
  11. Click the red button in the upper left corner to close the preferences window
  12. You will be prompted to save your changes; click the Save button.
