The closer you get to God, the further you get from the world. And not only that, but the closer you get to God, the more the things of the world are going to offend you. I’m to the place right now where even some TV commercials offend me. I mean, I’m not talking about walking in a realm of self-righteousness; I’m just talking about the realm of the spirit.

Your spirit that is awakened unto the Holy Spirit knows what will be offensive to God and what won’t be. If something offends your spirit, don’t go any further with it because if you do, it will rob you of what that Spirit of God is there to represent. It will!

And then before long, your spirit becomes more restricted and then suddenly your flesh has more of a dominating role in your life and your decisions.

If there is one book that I would recommend to read, outside of the Bible, I would like to challenge you to read “God Chasers” by Tommy Tenney. (You can order it online at Amazon.com) There is no way you can read that book and not be affected by it.

I mean, I thought I was pretty on fire for God until I started reading that book! And then I read it for a second time. Suddenly my spirit started getting stirred. And I realized how carnal and how restricted to this world process of doing things that I had become. I was lukewarm!

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.
(Rev. 3:16 KJV)

Being lukewarm is an offense to God. If you look up that word in a Strong’s concordance you will find that “spew” actually means “vomit.” If you are lukewarm it makes God puke! I never want to get to that place!

I just challenge you, if you don’t have a good book to read, get Tommy Tenney’s book “God Chasers.” It will challenge your spirit. We could all use a good challenge every now and then—it keeps us from becoming complacent in our walk with God.
