Contend for God’s Rest

by Keith Butler | The Anointed Word

“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 1:3 KJV).

Jesus prayed and had fellowship before God to enter into God’s rest. He stayed there until he got to that place of quietness and assurance. He came to a place where He was ready to do what God had for him to do. You must prepare for what God has for you. When you are ready, you will walk in peace, quietness, and assurance. But it is something you must contend for.

Jesus went into the Garden of Gethsemane in agony because of what was to take place. Having spent time in prayer and fellowship before God, He returned from that place in the power of the Spirit. When His captors came for Him, He said, “Who are you looking for?” He was in the zone of the rest of God. The captors said, “We’re looking for Jesus of Nazareth.” And Jesus said, “I am….” And they all fell backwards to the ground.

Do you know who I AM is? Jesus said, “I am that I am that I am. I am the first and the last. I am the alpha and the omega. I am the beginning and the ending.” Jesus was in the zone of the rest of God. He had spent time with God. He had settled the matter with his body and mind. He had accepted the will of God. And He was ready to go.

And when you get in the zone of the rest of God, the anointing which was on Jesus and is on you and in you. That anointing will rise up and live big in you. And you’ll be ready for what God has for you. The anointing lived big on Jesus and it repelled the enemies back until they fell under the power of God. And that’s what will happen to your enemies when you get over into the rest of God, and stop worrying about the problem.

Go in prayer and stay before God an hour; and get up and rest. Then pray before God some more; and get up and rest. Then pray some more. If it takes a day, if it takes a week, if it takes a month, stay there until you get the manifestation of the power necessary to tackle that situation. If you stay down there long enough, you’re going to get the rest of God.
