Did you know that using your faith for this nation is just like using your faith for anything else? Once you have the Word of the Lord and the witness of the Spirit, you refuse to be moved by circumstances.

You refuse to be discouraged by seemingly contradictory evidence. You simply stand fast on the Word of the Lord, believing it with your heart and confessing it with your mouth until the circumstances bow their knee and your faith becomes sight.

I was thinking the other day about a time when I had to do that in my own personal life to receive my healing. I’d been struggling with pneumonia. I’d taken every kind of antibiotic the doctors could find and nothing helped. So I just kept feeding my heart on the Word of God.

I read healing scriptures. I kept healing tapes going all the time. Mentally, I knew all along those scriptures were true but mental assent won’t get you healed. It takes heart faith to receive healing.

So I just kept meditating on the Word day and night.

One day I was in the kitchen, coughing, cooking and listening to those healing tapes when suddenly one of those scriptures came alive in me. “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse….”

At that moment, the Word of the Lord broke through the darkness of my circumstance and brought light to my heart. I got the witness of the Spirit and I knew…that I knew…that I knew… I was healed.

Did I stop coughing immediately? No. It took a couple of weeks for all the symptoms of pneumonia to leave my body. But once I had received the Word of the Lord I wasn’t moved by those symptoms. I knew if I just stood my ground in faith my body would have to manifest that healing. And, sure enough, it did.

A great many believers have learned to use that kind of faith for their own bodies and their own lives. But for some reason, we haven’t used it much for our nation.

Instead of getting in prayer and in the Word, instead of using our God-given authority to change things in this country, we’ve run to the media. We’ve heard this bad report and that one, wrung our hands and said, “Oh my, the devil’s just taking over everything!”

Well, up until now he has been taking over everything. Not because he had the power to do it but because believers just sat around and let him. As a whole, they didn’t pray. And most of those who did pray didn’t mix those prayers with faith. They’d just beg and cry and moan to God about how bad things are and how much we need His help. But then, instead of receiving that help by faith, they’d run back to the news media to see if their prayers had done any good.

Well, bless the Lord, those days are over!

The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is rising up like an army in prayer and we aren’t whining and begging anymore. We are taking this land! We are praying, believing God and declaring the Lordship of Jesus over this country.

We’re taking it out of the devil’s hands and putting it back into the hands of God. We’re not just taking the White House either. We’re taking the cabinet. We’re taking the Congress. We’re taking the Supreme Court. We’re taking state offices and state courts.

We’ll yield to God in prayer until the whole government of this nation is swept clean. Until righteousness reigns and the people rejoice!

“But, Sister Lynne, is that even possible?”

With God all things are possible and all things are possible to those who believe.

So the question is. “Will you believe?”

And will you pray believing?

On the chilly March night in 1972 when Lynne Hammond took her first step into a life of Spirit-led prayer, she had no idea what was about to happen. All she knew was the hunger in her heart for God wouldn’t let her sleep. In the few short months she’d been born again, her desire to fellowship with Him had grown so strong she could hardly contain it. “Help me, God!” she cried. “I want to know you. I want to be able to talk to you. Please, teach me to pray!”

Suddenly, a heavenly presence flooded the room. Lynne sensed waves of spiritual fire sweeping over her and a beautiful language began to flow like a river from within her. Although she’d never heard of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, she knew instantly, without a doubt—this was God!

What began that night soon blossomed into a life of prayer that ultimately became a ministry of prayer when, in 1980, Lynne and her husband, Mac, founded Living Word Christian Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Under Lynne’s leadership, the prayer ministry at Living Word has become an internationally recognized model for developing effective pray-ers in the local church.

A teacher and an author, Lynne publishes a newsletter called Prayer Notes, has written numerous books, and currently serves as the national prayer director for Daughters for Zion. Her passion for inspiring and leading others into the life of Spirit-led prayer continues to take her around the world to minister to believers whose heart cry, like hers, is “Lord, teach me to pray!”
