“We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak” (2 Cor. 4:13).
Our capacity to operate in faith comes from hearing the Word of God. However, our faith doesn’t grow because we hear. We can feed and feed and feed a muscle, but it only grows in strength as we exercise it.
Faith is the same way. All over the world, believers sit back in their church pews week after week, just hearing and hearing and hearing the Word. Then they can’t figure out why their faith doesn’t work for them. I could tell them why: They’re not using their faith every day.
Keep Flexing Your Faith Muscle
We should make sure our faith is working on something all the time. When one answer comes in, our faith should still be out working in four or five other areas of our lives.
We have to keep our faith muscles flexed. Then when a new problem arises, we won’t flinch and say, “Oh, Lord, what am I going to do?” We’ll look it square in the face and say, “Thank God, my faith works in this situation! This is a great opportunity to give my faith some exercise!”
We don’t like problems, and God doesn’t send them. But we can take anything the devil throws against us and turn it around for our good. We can use our faith to push the problem away from us, as a weight lifter uses weights. Every time he pushes the weights away, he gains a little more strength.
So anytime a new problem comes along, learn to count it all joy. Just look at the problem as an opportunity to exercise your faith. God’s Word will work to drive that problem away, and your faith will come out of the trial that much stronger!
When symptoms come against me, I count it all
joy because I know God’s Word working in me is
greater than any sickness or disease. The Word
Was sent to heal me, and it’s working mightily
in me right now!
