…He has sent me to bind up and heal the brokenhearted….
(Isa. 61:1, AMP)
Broken hearted?
We can find comfort in knowing Jesus is anointed to “bind up” and heal the broken hearted. Literally, that means to “wrap firmly.” If you are hurting today, think of Jesus wrapping up your heart in these ways…
In the same way that bones are bound in a splint or cast so they are immobilized, protected from further damage and allowed to heal—the Lord binds up our broken hearts.
In the same way that a cut or wound is wrapped or stitched so that the cells may be knit together again—the Lord firmly wraps our wounded hearts.
In the same way that we pour a salve or an antibacterial balm into an open cut so that it may be free from germs and secondary damage—the Lord soothes our hearts.
Is your heart broken by a betrayal? An accuser? Hurtful words? Cruelty?
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [curing their pains and their sorrows].
(Ps. 147:3 AMP)
Have you been rejected or disapproved?
He [God] Himself has said, ‘I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!].’
(Heb. 13:5 AMP)
Been jilted? Had a recent break-up? Disappointed by unmet expectations?
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of life. (Prov. 13:12 AMP)
Is your heart broken and contrite because of a godly sorrow over sin?
The Lord is close to those who are of a broken heart and saves such as are crushed with sorrow for sin and are humbly and thoroughly penitent.”
(Ps. 34:18 AMP)
Broken today? There are some places in our hearts that only the Lord can reach. Be encouraged today to know that if we will give our hearts to the Lord, over time He will heal and bind up our broken hearts.
Say It: Father, my heart is broken. I need You to do what only You can do. I ask You to heal, bind up and firmly wrap my heart so it can be healed. In Jesus Name. Amen.
