“Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward” (Ex. 14:15 NKJ).
The parting of the Red Sea depended upon and coincided with the children of Israel’s willingness to move forward. The way wasn’t opened to them until they took the first step.
We have a tendency to wait for someone to clear a path for us. Then we want someone else to pave that path and add lights along it to illuminate the way. Then we want some brave soul to try out the new route and report back to us that it is all right for traveling.
We want to be assured that the road we are about to embark on is reliable, safe, and trustworthy. It takes some doing for the Lord to get some of us to risk following paths no one has ever blazed before.
This is one of the solid support systems the Word of God provides for us. When the Lord says, “Don’t come crying to Me; tell the people to go forward,” He is giving us a rhema word with His backing. His Word is all we need.
You are not alone. God is there with you. His Word is all you need to see you through. In the Old Testament God’s spokesman asks: “Has the Lord said, and will he not do it? Has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” (Num. 23:19).
Exodus 33:14 assures us of God’s presence going with us. It also assures us of inward peace:…My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
Forward is a motion word. It is on-going. It is goal-oriented. It is directional. With this word spoken to us, we inwardly know we are on time with God’s timetable for our life.
