“And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven…”(Acts 9:3).
Jesus will deal with your enemies here on the earth, suddenly.
People that come against you will meet Jesus in their tracks. But He’s not going to squash them like a bug, the way we want Him to. It is God’s desire that all men be saved and come into the knowledge of the truth, and to live for Him.
There was an enemy of the church; his name was Saul of Tarsus. He was zealous to kill as many Christians as he could. He had legal papers to go all over the countryside to persecute Christians: to grab them, bind them, beat them, jail them, and kill them if necessary. He was in every sense of the word an enemy of the church.
In Acts 9 we see Saul on that road to Damascus. He is going to Damascus to persecute some more Christians. In the third verse it says, “And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus and suddenly.…”
Again, Saul was just walking along intending to kill as many Christians as possible when instantly, immediately, straightway, at once, and suddenly, there shone roundabout him a light from heaven.
Saul fell to the ground. As you know, Jesus intercepted Saul. He was born again and God changed his name to Paul. He called Paul to the ministry and among many other exploits for God he penned two thirds of the New Testament that we read today. God suddenly changed his life, because God moves suddenly.
And that is how God will deal with your enemies. It’s the will of God for all men to be saved and to come into the knowledge of the truth. One way that He will deal with your enemies is that He will reach out to them to get them saved.
So, pray for your enemies that they not see eternal destruction. Pray God’s will over them so that they can be saved and work for God and do damage to the kingdom of Satan. With your prayers, God will suddenly deliver you from your enemies and deliver them from eternal destruction.
Because that’s the way God is. God loves everybody.
