Going In and Going Out

by Dick Mills | The Spirit Filled Believer

“If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture” (John 10:9 NKJ).

Go in and go out! What a beautiful balance between being a true worshipper and a faithful witness. As the children of God, we go in to be with the Lord, to worship Him, learn of Him, and establish a relationship with Him.

True worshippers relish any opportunity to go in and intimately commune with their heavenly Father. Going in is an expression of a soul that desires to love the Lord with all the heart, mind and strength.

Going out is our service. We go in and discover truths, to get our marching orders, and to understand what the Lord is really saying to us. Then we go out to share with the world the things He has shared with us.

I have paraphrased the words of the Lord in Matthew 10:27 like this: “You came in and waited before Me. I spoke to you in secret. Now you go out and speak in public. What you have heard in privacy, proclaim publicly.”

Just as a door swings both ways, so the Lord invites us to a two-way lifestyle. He beckons us to come in and be alone in true worship to Him. Then He sends us out to proclaim good news to a waiting, needy world.

If we just go in and stay in, we will fail to reach the world. If we only go out without first going in and establishing a daily relationship with our Father, we will end up running till we burn ourselves out.

Going in – going out. What a practical balance!
