“Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous.”
Peter, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, has put together a “to do” list for us. We are to be of the same mind one toward another, united in spirit, valuing the same things that Christ values and honoring each other.
We must have compassion for each other, feeling empathy for one another, loving one another like brothers and sisters. Everyone must live in harmony with those around them, accepting the responsibility for the condition of the relationship we have with them. Don’t be proud and blaming, but be humble and Christ like.
The Message Bible says: “Summing up: Be agreeable, be sympathetic, be loving, be compassionate, be humble.”
Having compassion for each other implies being tenderhearted and kind. Where do we get that? We must first let the compassion of Jesus come to us to affirm and establish our heart before Him. Then when we have it, we share it. It’s that simple.
I will let the mind of Christ and the compassion of Jesus touch me so I can touch others.
