1) Ask Not What Your Church Can Do For You, But What You Can Do For Your Chruch
Remember the similar statement made by President John F. Kennedy? I remember learning that in school. I think that people have the same tendency in churches today - they are always looking for ways to be blessed rather than looking for ways to be a blessing.

If you really want to get the most out of your church, stop being so picky about everything and start looking for the good things.

We all know that there is no such thing as a perfect church. Of course, you should go to a church where you will be fed the Word of God, but just understand that your church will not always be faultless.

Look past its flaws and do your part to make your church better!

2) Pray For Your Pastor Daily
If you really want to get the most out of church, pray for your Pastor and his family daily. Pray that God will give him wisdom and keep him strong. Ask the Lord to give him the right messages every time he speaks.

If you see something in your church or something about your Pastor that you don't agree with, then pray! Instead of talking about the problem, ask God what you can do to change things and how you can be a blessing.

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to have to answer to the Lord for having sown discord or for having been a part of sowing strife by saying the wrong thing. Truthfully, most people who complain really aren't praying anyway and those who pray don't usually complain.

When you get in the presence of God He changes you. When you pray for your Pastor, it will cause the anointing in your church services to increase.

3) Bless Your Pastor On Special Occasions
A great way to be a blessing to your Pastor is to just let him know that you appreciate him! This can be done with words of appreciation - simply telling him what a blessing his is to you and that he is appreciated can mean a lot.

Also, remember to send a card or note to your Pastor on special days like Father's Day, Mother's Day, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Remember: it would be really nice if you put some money in the card too!

Or, to be a blessing to your Pastor on special occasions, someone such as your Associate Pastor can receive a special offering. You could check with your Pastor's spouse or someone else in charge to share your idea about receiving an offering.

4) Get Involved In The Ministry Of Helps
A great way to be a blessing to your church is to serve in the ministry of helps. If you really want to be a blessing, then be available for anything your Pastor needs to make the church run smoothly. It may be ushering, greeting, working in the nursery, etc.

Before I went into full time ministry, I worked in the children's department for about five years. I did puppets, skits and really ministered to the kids. I knew I wasn't called to work in that ministry permanently, but there was a need - so I filled it! I never missed a service, and I really believe the Lord has blessed me today because I was a faithful servant back then! You will really be a blessing if you make yourself available for anything, even cleaning the restrooms.

Oh, and a great attitude will really knock your Pastor over! Remember, when you are serving in your church, you are really serving the Lord. Hebrews 6:10 tells us that God will not forget your work and labor of love! The Lord sees the people who work in the ministry of helps - even if no one else seems to notice - and He will reward them abundantly!

5) Be A Consistent Tither
Malachi 3:10 tells us of the awesome blessings we receive from tithing. Proverbs 3:9 says that we honor God when we put him first in tithing and giving. Of course when we tithe, we open up the floodgates of blessing to come our way.

I know one couple so committed to tithing that they drop their tithe off early before going on vacation. Now that's commitment! They know that the church bills keep coming in even while they are gone.

6) Speak Faith-filled Words Over Your Church
There is power in the words we speak! If you really want to be a blessing then you should speak God's Word over your church on a daily basis. Say aloud that God is giving your Pastor wisdom and that all your church's needs are met in abundance with plenty left over to give to others.

Confess daily that God's glory is in every service, that souls are saved and that your church is a mighty force touching your city and the world.

7) Invite People To Church
Sometimes we overlook this easy way of reaching people. For many years I invited my brother John to church. He always said no, but I kept extending the invitation to him. One day when I was out of town he went to church by himself and gave his life to the Lord!

Make it a habit to invite people to church when shopping at the mall, getting your hair done, or eating at a restaurant. You can be a great blessing by spreading the word about your anointed church.

As you and I start putting these seven steps into action, many more people will be reached for the kingdom of God and you will be a major blessing to your Pastor and to your church.
