Precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.
(Isa. 28:10 KJV)
It should be no surprise that when believers have tried to win the battle of the bulge through ordinary human strength, they've failed. I know because I have been there. But you can get there from here.

First, get to know Jesus. The spiritual things have to come first because you are a spirit. You live in a body. If you want your spirit to dominate your body, you have to feed your spirit.

Second, we've known ordinary human wisdom. For example, eat fewer calories than you burn, and you will lose weight. That's a fact, but there's no power in knowing that.

When temptation to overeat comes, we must immediately draw strength from God's Word to cast those thoughts down.

Third, concentrate on the "do's" and not on the "don'ts." While drinking six to eight glasses of water, eating two to three fruits and three to seven servings of vegetables a day may be our ultimate goal, we don't start there.

Begin drinking four or five glasses of water each day and eating at least two pieces of fruit and two vegetables each day. If you will take one step of faith at a time to do something that you are not already doing, step by step you will eventually meet your goal.1

Make Your Day Count
With your ultimate goal in mind, what is one thing you could do today that would be a single step toward that goal?

Step out and do that one thing today.

Marty Copeland is a wife, mother of 3, a Master Personal Trainer and Nutritional Guidance Counselor. Most importantly, she is here, doing this, because she has experienced first hand that God not only desires to help us reach our health and fitness goals, but He has the perfect plan that will lead us to a lifestyle of freedom and self-control. She has come to know that true health is more than just having a strong and healthy body-though that is something we should all enjoy. True health also includes a strong spirit and soul. It is when our spirits are full and our minds are strong that living a healthy lifestyle becomes easy.
