I would like to talk about healing. And, if we are going to talk toward obtaining the healing that we need, there are some things we have to get straight right from the beginning or the enemy will defeat us at every turn.

The first thing we have to understand is that a solid connection must be established to the healing power of God. Let me use this example. My sister's house caught on fire. During the reconstruction and repairs, she ran into a dilemma regarding the wiring for her ceiling fan and light.

She desired to have the fan work even when the light was turned off. Many attempts were made to wire the ceiling fan/light. Sometimes the light would work and the fan wouldn't. Sometimes the fan and light would both work but they would not work independent of each other.

You get the picture? It was frustrating to the one doing the wiring because it seemed all attempts made to get it operating properly failed. The longer this process went on the more frustrating it became. The more the frustration, the more it was difficult to think clearly about the matter.

Finally, I think someone else had to come in and wire it—not because the first person didn't know how or was not capable—but because the frustration just became too much to allow clarity of thought and action.

Healing is a Process
This is like the process of healing, sometimes. The truth is that healing is a process even though sometimes it looks like an instantaneous event. The one who is ill must make the right connection to the healing power of Jesus.

Now, it is not as difficult as it seems; it just takes faith and determination.

The adversary is going to do everything in his power to delay your miracle and to get you frustrated so that you will quit and judge God as a liar. Well, the devil is the liar. God desires to heal you and He will heal you if you make the right connection.

God is not the one that makes this process so difficult. It is Satan that does everything he can to stop the power of God from operating in your life. If you will just stand firm on the Word of God and let the Holy Spirit work for and in you, your healing will manifest. It is just a matter of making the right connection.

The second thing we have to address is the process by which we make the right connection to the healing power of God. Sometimes we have a delay in our healing and Satan begins to talk to us about how it is never going to happen. He gives us any number of reasons why we will not be healed. These can be stated briefly as:
  1. God does not heal today
  2. God will not heal you
  3. You do not have faith
And the list can continue on in this same vein for a while! However, there are some truths that can quiet the voice of the enemy and they are all found in the Word of God.

So, let's take some of the things that can keep us from making the right connection.

God Does Not Heal Today
The Word says that God never changes. The Word says that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. God said He would take every sickness and disease out from the midst of His people. Are you a child of God? Do you know Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord? If so, you qualify.

Jesus was sent to do a particular work for the Father. Jesus said that He only did that which His Father told Him to do. He went about "doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil, for God was with Him."

The Gospels are filled with examples of Jesus healing all kinds of infirmities and illnesses. Some of those illnesses are still considered incurable today. However, Jesus healed—and He is the same today as He was then.

God Will Not Heal You
Do you think you are the one person in the entire existence of the world that God cannot or will not do for? The people that Jesus healed were not saved as we know it today because He had not yet gone to the cross. They were under the Old Covenant but that does not mean they were living any closer to God than we do today.

You Do Not Have Faith
I don't know how many times I have caught myself thinking that I must not have faith for something I need from God. What a lie! The truth is that God Himself has already given us faith for whatever we need. God gave, as a gift, the measure of faith to every man.

If you are a member of the human race and you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then you have that measure of faith given to you by God Almighty. You do not have to see if you can find a store that sells it or look to find some super-spiritual individual to give it to you. You already have it.

The Word of God says that we are saved by faith in Jesus Christ. Where do you think you got that faith? You sure didn't earn it by your perfection and your sin-free life. No, God provided faith for us to be saved even when we were in our sins and were separated from Him due to that sin. Faith is a free gift of God just as grace and salvation are free gifts.

So, make sure you understand that there is a solid connection that must be established to the healing power of God in order to fully receive everything He has for you today in regards to healing.

He healed back then, He still heals today.
