I received a letter from a lady who had an illness for several years. She went to great lengths to explain to me all the details of her sickness. She told me about all the doctor visits and her stay in the hospital.

And then she made a common statement. She said, "I sure wish I knew what it was that God was trying to teach me by making me sick." Then in the next paragraph, she asked me to pray for her healing.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized the double mindedness of her statements. If she truly believed that God had make her sick to teach her something, then why would she want me to pray for her healing? Wouldn't that be going against God?

And if she truly believed that God had made her sick to teach her something, then why did she go to the doctors to get well. Because, after all, the longer she would stay sick, the more she would learn. Right?

Let's get real. God does not make you sick. In fact, all through God's Word, He says over and over again that it is His will that we be healed.

In Psalm 103 the Bible says,
Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction.
Does this sound like a God who puts sickness on you or does this sound like a God who heals those who believe in Him?

Knowing The Truth Sets Us Free
We must know the truth. God's will has been and is to heal the sick. His nature is not sickness, disease and death. His nature is health and life.

Sickness and disease did not exist until Satan showed up in the Garden of Eden. If illness and infirmities were God's will for His creation, then Adam and Eve would have been created that way. But they were not. They were created perfect and whole. God only deals with perfection. Everything He created was created perfect.

When Jesus came here to earth, He came for a purpose. First John 3:8, says, "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil."

Jesus even made it clearer in John 10:10 where He said, "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy, I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

James 1:17 says, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."

Jesus came to give us abundant life. And all good and perfect gifts come from God the Father. Is cancer a good gift? Is putting up with lung and kidney problems living abundantly? Does God give these things?

No, He does not! They are a result of an imperfect world full of the results of the fall of man.

But today I have good news. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil and He, Jesus, accomplished what He set out to do. Satan has been defeated and we have been given the ability to be set free.
