Do you suffer from low energy and ongoing anxiety? Do you frequently have headaches and irritability? Magnesium is considered a “master mineral” for the body and a deficiency of the mineral will create continuing challenges in the human body. With the ongoing depletion of farming soil, less magnesium (among other minerals) is provided in the diet from the foods we eat from the ground.

What are the symptoms of magnesium deficiency?
As we consume fewer amounts of magnesium, the body will begin to exhibit some of the following symptoms:

  •     Lower energy levels
  •     Increased fatigue
  •     Advancing weakness
  •     Problems sleeping
  •     Increasing anxiety levels
  •     Bouts of irritability
  •     Episodes of headaches
  •     Increased nervousness
  •     Weakened bones
  •     Cramping and spasms of muscles
  •     Heart rhythm abnormalities
  •     PMS symptoms as hormones become imbalanced

Advanced symptoms include:

  •     Episodes of constipation
  •     Issues with vertigo (dizziness – spinning)
  •     Weakness of muscles

Choosing Whole Food Sources
Choosing whole food sources which add magnesium to the diet is an excellent option. By eating some of the following foods, symptoms can disappear, and the body will function more as God has created it to function.

Here are some whole food choices for adding magnesium to the diet:

  •     Pumpkin seeds
  •     Sunflower seeds
  •     Sesame seeds
  •     Cashews
  •     Almonds
  •     Black beans
  •     Spinach
  •     Squash
  •     Okra

Safely Adding Magnesium
Magnesium supplements offer another option to ensure one is getting enough on a daily basis. Magnesium Citrate is one form which is inexpensive to purchase. Other alternatives include bathing in Epson salts which will be easily absorbed into the skin. Also, applying magnesium oil is another option. Using a small amount of oil will go a long way.

Health Improvements
Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the human body. This master mineral helps to control other minerals in the body. Consuming a sufficient amount of this mineral will improve heart health, muscle health, and kidney health. Blood pressure levels are also improved with an adequate intake of magnesium.
