That’s why we’ve compiled some weight loss scriptures to stand on during various challenges that come with this lifestyle change.

Bible Verses for Weight Loss: To Find Strength in Hard Times...

Life continues to move forward, even as we follow a weight loss journey. Challenges that come up can derail us as we try to move forward for our health. When we are weak and downtrodden, we must find strength in our Creator:

PHILIPPIANS 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

PHILIPPIANS 4:6
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

PSALM 103:1-5
Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

To Remember Your Body Is a Temple...

We often forget that caring for our bodies is a form of worship and glorifying God.

With each choice we make regarding food or exercise, we’re affecting the temple created in His image. We offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, which means giving them your best, even when times are hard.

In addition, consider how weight can hold you back from doing good works you’re called to do—physically or emotionally.

By treating your body with respect as God’s handiwork, you’ll be better equipped in the holy fight. Fill it with nutrient-dense foods that truly fuel it and move you closer to the healthy weight you’re meant to possess.

Glorify Him in each aspect of your life, including in what you eat, using these Bible verses for weight loss:

1 CORINTHIANS 6:19-20
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

1 CORINTHIANS 10:31
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

For Dealing with Cravings...

Cravings and cheat days are always a potential temptation when following a healthy lifestyle.

Maybe you find it hard to say “no” when others offer you food or invite you to a gathering without Keto Zone-friendly options. Or maybe you struggle with cravings for food others eat at home or while you’re out of the house.

Don’t let food call the shots in your life. God doesn’t want you to deal with anything else ruling over your life other than Him.

Let the freedom of God strengthen you against cravings and dietary temptations of the flesh. Fight these temptations daily with His Truth:

ROMANS 6:12,14
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts…. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

1 CORINTHIANS 6:12
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

1 CORINTHIANS 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

To Address Overeating and Gluttony...

Let us not forget gluttony and its overindulgence is a sin of the Bible—and one of the most looked-over in our modern day. This makes it especially hard to recognize sometimes.

Look to God for steadfastness in listening to your body knowing when your hit the point of “enough.”

GALATIANS 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

PROVERBS 23:1-3
When you sit down to eat with a ruler, consider carefully what is before you; and put a knife to your throat if you are a man given to appetite. Do not desire his delicacies, for they are deceptive food.

ROMANS 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

For Shifting to a Mindset of Renewal...

Chances are, you’re starting this Christian weight loss joining after a period of neglecting your health—perhaps for a long long. This is a fantastic opportunity for spiritual rebirth and renewal!

The time to honor Him by rebuilding your temple (through good health) has arrived:

ROMANS 12:1-2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

JEREMIAH 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

1 PETER 3:3-4
Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel—rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.

We hope you find these Bible verses for weight loss helpful on your walk to physical and spiritual renewal. And we’ll end with a message to you on this journey:

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. (3 John 1:2)
