What would you say if I told you that you can live totally free from fear of evil? Would you immediately raise your hands and shout, "Hallelujah!"? Or would you hesitate?

Would you say, "Well, now, Brother Keith, I just don't know that it's possible not to have any fear at all, not with all the crime, disease, poverty and disasters that surround us these days. 1'd like to live free from fear, but I just don't think I can."

Yes, you can! The Bible says it's possible to live without fear. "I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears" (Ps. 34:4). If you were delivered from all your fears, how much fear would you have? None!

It's possible to live free from all fear of evil. And as believers, we should. God didn't intend for man to live in fear, and here are ten biblical reasons why we should never be afraid.
  1. God Said, "Fear Not!"
First, we should not be afraid because: God told us not to fear.

Repeatedly, Jesus told His disciples not to fear. When they were frightened by the miraculous events they witnessed or were overcome by anxiety about the future, He said, "Let not your heart be troubled...neither let it be afraid" (John 14:1,27).

Since Jesus told us not to be afraid, we know it is His will that we live without fear.
  1. Fear Is Not From God
Second, we should not be afraid because fear is not from God. As believers, we don't have to accept anything that isn't from God. If a spirit is not from God, it is from the enemy, because "God hath not given us the spirit of fear..." (2 Tim. 1:7). If we yield to fear, we are yielding to a wrong spirit.

If a spirit of fear tries to grip you, resist it. Don't yield to it. Even if you feel terrified, even if the hair is standing up on the back of your neck, goose bumps are double-parked on your arms, and your knees are knocking together, don't yield to fear.
  2. Fear Is a Magnet
Third, the Bible says we should not be afraid because what we fear will come on us. Job recognized that fear was one of the major causes of the terrible troubles which overtook him. "For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me and that which I was afraid of is come unto me" (Job 3:25).

If you don't want something harmful to happen to you, you have to get the fear of it out of you. The more afraid of something you become, the more you give that access to your life.
  3. There Is No God Like Our God
Hallelujah! I like this reason not to be afraid! There is no god like our God. There is no god as big as our God. God Himself says so.

"Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord...before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour... Fear ye not, neither be afraid..." (Isa. 43:10-11, 44:8).

Our God "made the heaven and the earth by [his] great power... and nothing is too hard for [him]" (Jer. 32:17). Jesus said that all things are possible with God (Mark 10:27).

We have no reason to fear, because nothing that could come against us is too big or too difficult for our God.
  4. God Is on Our Side
We also don't have to fear because this God Who is so big and so powerful; is all our side! "The Lord is on my side," the psalmist said. "I will not fear: what can man do unto me?" (Ps. 118:6).

We know God is for us because "he... spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all..." (Rom. 8:32). God so loved the world that He sent us Jesus. Jesus so loved the world that He came, and died, and rose again and ever lives to make intercession for us (Heb. 7:25).

God is on our side, and we don't have to be afraid because "...neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Rom. 8:38-39).
  5. God Is the Sovereign Righteous Jude
Another reason we should not fear is - God is the sovereign, righteous Judge of the earth.

Understanding the sovereignty of God enabled Jesus to stand fearlessly before Pilate without speaking in His own defense. "Knowest thou not, "Pilate asked Him, "that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee"?

But Jesus answered, "Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above..." (John 19:10-11). Jesus knew that Pilate could do nothing except what God permitted him to do because "there is no power but of God..." (Rom. 13:1).
  6. We Are Righteous
Having a revelation of the sovereignty of God gives us another reason not to be afraid - God, the righteous Judge of the earth, declares that we are righteous! The Bible says that we have been made righteous by Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 5:21).

God, the sovereign, righteous Judge, has declared us innocent-not deserving of any punishment-because Jesus paid the price for us. He took the penalty for us. "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us..." (Gal. 3:13).

The only people the devil has a legal right to oppress are the guilty, the condemned. Consequently, no judgment will be passed against us if we'll stand in that righteousness which is ours in Him.

We are righteous. Therefore, we don't have to be afraid because the Bible says that those who are established in righteousness will be far from fear (Isaiah 54:14).
  7. We Have Angels
Another way we can be delivered from all our fears is through the ministry of angels. The Bible says angels are "ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation" (Heb. 1:14). Hallelujah! Doesn't that encourage you? We have angels encamping round about us to deliver us from danger (Ps. 34:7).
  8. We Have Authority
We should never fear-because we have authority in the Name of Jesus. Jesus gave His disciples power and authority over "all the power of the enemy" (Luke 10:19).

We exercise that authority by using His Name. "At the name of Jesus every knee must bow" (Phil. 2:10), and every demon, every work of the devil must obey any command spoken by faith in the Name of Jesus.

The Bible says God put all things under the feet of Jesus (Eph. 1:21-22). Well, anything that's under His feet is under ours because we are His Body (Ep. 1:23).

Glory to God! Our enemy is under our feet. We should not fear because we have authority in the Name of Jesus!
  9. God Is With Us
And finally, the most important reason why we should never be afraid is that God is with us!

We've already said that God is great, powerful and mighty. We've already said He's for us. But as wonderful as it is to have a picture of God on the throne somewhere being for you, it's infinitely greater to have a revelation of God being with you - living inside you, walking beside you, going in front of you, coming behind you-24 hours a day, seven days a week, every week of the year, every year for the rest of your life!

How can we be afraid when the God Who knows all, Who can do all, is with us, living inside each one of us?
