When people came to Jesus and asked, "What must we do to do the works God requires?" Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent" (John 6:28-29).
All through the Bible, every time something awesome happened, somebody had to trust God enough to act on what He said and open the door.
That's what happened to me the day I made Jesus my Lord. I read Matthew 6:26 and found out that God cares even for birds—and faith burst into my heart. I didn't know the first thing about becoming a Christian.
Yet when I spoke that faith out—that I believed in Him—I opened the door just a crack and God's mercy and love flooded my heart and changed me forever.
It's still true today. However wide you open that door of faith is how much of God's mercy and goodness will flow into your life. He wants to do great things in your life and give you all the benefits of salvation.
When I say salvation, I'm not just talking about a ticket to heaven. Salvation means freedom—from depression, poverty, sickness, danger, fear—anything you need freedom from!
Psalm 68:19 says God loads us with the benefits of salvation daily. Start each day by opening the door of faith. Don't just open it a crack—rip it off the hinges!1
Spend some time reading your Bible until a verse seems to "leap off the page." That is the Holy Spirit making God's Word alive to you. As you believe that verse and act as if it is true—because it is—it will open the door wide to God's blessings.
