A sign of immaturity is if your most spiritual day is Sunday or Wednesday when you go to youth group. You know, some people feel a lot closer to God because they're getting ready to go to church or to youth group that day. They pray more and have better quiet times that day figuring it's better to be spiritual on those days than no days at all.

This is the sign of a weak Christian. Somehow, in the back of his brain, he thinks that these days are more spiritual or that he needs to look like he's more spiritual on these days than other days. Then on Monday or Tuesday he feels far away from God. He isn't with his Christian friends. He's not motivated to have a good Quiet Time and really live for God with his whole heart on those days.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, he pretty much takes a vacation from God in his own world. He checks in with God maybe a couple times a week, but only because those are days that he goes to church.

Romans 14:5 says, "One man considers one day more sacred than another, another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind."

Paul says that if you value one day over another, it is a sign of immaturity. If you are "spiritual" on a specific day because you are supposed to be spiritual on this day, then is your spirituality genuine?

If we're really giving our whole life over to God, shouldn't we want to be tight with Him every day? Shouldn't we want to be spiritual every day? Shouldn't we be growing every day?

Take a few minutes to meditate on these verses. Have you been guilty of acting different on some days just because it's the day you go to church? It's time to commit now and say, "Lord, I'm sorry for acting more spiritual on some days than others. My whole life really does belong to you and I want to be as close as I possibly can to you every day."
