What does the Bible mean when it says "there is no male or female in Christ Jesus"?

Let's examine the specific text to which you refer.
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
(Gal. 3:26-29 NKJ)
The Bible deals with men and women on two levels: their relationship with God and their relationship with each other. This verse deals with men and women according to how God looks at them.

In the eyes of God we are equal! Men aren't better than women, nor are women better than men; we are all one and equal in Christ. This same truth of equality applies to nationality, social, and economic status.

With regard to our relationship with each other, the Bible recognizes the differences between the sexes. The Bible does not teach that one sex is better than another, but that men and women are different.

If a husband and wife realize that they are both equal in the eyes of God, but individually important to God, then their relationship will have much more harmony.
