God said in Joshua 1:8-9,
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:

for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
(Joshua 1:8-9)
A successful person is one that uses the wisdom and knowledge from God's Word to rise to the top regardless of the obstacles. When you need favor, wisdom, protection or prosperity, you know how to pray effectively and receive it.

If sickness attacks your body, you apply the Word of God and change it with your faith. You are healed. No matter where you go or what you come into contact with, you know how to come out victorious. Or, as we say in South Louisiana, "If you fall in an outhouse, you come out smelling like a rose."

1. Essentials
God wants you to be suited for success and He has provided you with the essentials you need! You see, His plan of salvation includes more than eternal life and a mansion in Heaven. As a member of the family of God, you have access to benefits that provide for everything you could ever need in this life (2 Peter 1:3).

In fact, the moment you were born again you were issued a suit of armor designed by God Himself. From the top of your head to the sole of your feet, you are equipped with supernatural clothing that is impenetrable by the enemy. I like to think of it as my faith suit (Eph. 6:10-17).

Have you ever tried to dress a child that is distracted or refuses to help? It can be very frustrating. But when that same child is excited about going somewhere, they will tear off their pajamas, throw on their play clothes and look for someone to help with the buttons and laces. It is a big difference when they are excited.

God has provided this awesome suit of armour so that you can successfully "... stand against the wiles of the devil." But it can't help you unless you wear it. It is your responsibility to accept it and put it on.

Romans 13:12 tells us, "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light."

How do you do that? Read God's Word and accept it by faith. Meditate on it day and night and don't let it depart from your mouth. Follow God's instructions to Joshua and you will be a success going somewhere to happen. You will be equipped for victory!

2. Accessorize
Once you are suited with God's armor, you can browse through His Word for ways to add to your faith suit. Second Peter 1:4-8 says,
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(2 Peter 1:4-8)
What an awesome promise! If virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness and love (charity) is in you abundantly you will bear fruit! You will succeed!

3. One Last Look
Mirrors are wonderful things. If you take the time to use them, they will reveal things that need to be fixed and save you from embarrassing situations. You will be able to see the lettuce in your teeth, ketchup on your cheek or stain on your tie. Most important of all, it will reveal the hem of your dress inside your panty hose. But, you have to look in the mirror or you will be exposed.

That's what happened to me. The bathroom of the church I was visiting did not have a full-length mirror, so I just moved my hand down the back of my skirt to make sure everything was in place. The suit that I was wearing had a lining and two layers of peach chiffon in the skirt, so I did not realize that everything except the top outer sheer layer was inside my panty hose.

I walked all the way up the aisle of the church to the front pew before three wonderful women told me what had happened. What an embarrassment! Since that time, I have learned how important it is to take one last look in the mirror before heading out the door. I don't take it for granted that I'm fully suited for success anymore! No, I make sure to take that one last look!

As believers, it's important that we don't take our success suit for granted. The Word of God is our mirror. Before we begin anything, we should always take one last look and allow the Lord to reveal things that need adjustment (James 1:23-25).

God's Word has revealed the way for you to succeed. It starts with putting on your suit of armour each day. It continues with adding just the right accessories and taking an assessing look at yourself every day.

If you study and do what the Word says, Second Timothy 2:15 says you will never be ashamed. You won't be exposed. You'll be suited for success, knowing where to go and what to do when you get there. You will be blessed in your deed. You will succeed!
