Isaiah 30:18 (NLT)
But the Lord still waits for you to come to him so he can show his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for him to help them.

The prophet Isaiah encouraged the people of Israel to not return to Egypt to ask for help but to ask God instead and wait for His help. The story of the people of Israel and their mistakes are recorded in the Bible so we can learn from them and not repeat them. In time of famine, the Israelites were going back to Egypt looking for help instead of turning to God. Even though God had already taken them out of Egypt and performed many miracles for them, they refused to obey or seek Him.

Today, we act the same as the people of Israel. We get in trouble. God rescues us. We forget about it and get in trouble again. Instead of running to God and asking Him for help, we decide we have a better plan. A good example would be when we overcommit our time. We say yes to projects and additional responsibilities, and then we have no idea how we're going to deliver what we promised. Part of obeying God is to be good stewards of the resources He entrusts to us, and time is one of those resources. We need to ask Him for wisdom and to teach us how to manage our time. Even when we are in too deep and backing out seems to be the only way out, God has a better plan. He will give us ideas on how to get it done and teach us not to overcommit in the future.

God is always waiting for you to repent and run to Him. He yearns to demonstrate His love for you, and His compassion overflows when you return to Him. He is patient and faithful. So, don't run to the world for the solutions to your problems. Run to God and wait for Him to help you. He will come through.
