"These were more noble (Jews) than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the Word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily whether those things were so" (Acts 17:11).

God is not predictable. You can't chart Him and say He's only going to do it this way or that way. Listen to me; God is going to do it His way.

God will accomplish whatever He wants. He may do it in a traditional sense or a non-traditional sense. He may do it right now or years later. But there's one thing you should learn if you're going to succeed in any endeavor, particularly in the things of God, is have an open mind.

In Acts 17:11, these Jews had all readiness of mind. They were called "more noble" because their minds were open to receive the Word of God. Allowing your mind to be open to the things of God is paramount to your success as a believer.

Now, I've always worked on being open minded to another way unless, of course, I find something in the scripture that says differently. God's Word is always abounding with new revelation and if I have a readiness of mind, the Holy Spirit will reveal it to me.

I remember when the Spirit of God started dealing with me about changing how I pastor. Now, I've been operating my church as a successful pastor for many years, and these were radical changes. To be honest with you, at first, my mind had taken this position: "No, I'm an opponent to that way, God. I don't see that."

Then the Spirit of God told me to get out the scripture. I said, "Lord, I already know what the Word said about pastoring."

He told me to turn to a particular scripture. As I started reading, the Spirit of God began illuminating things I hadn't seen that way before. I began to open my mind and finally, a whole year later, when my mind was fully open, the Lord gave me the full revelation of what could happen.

If your mind is closed, you'll miss the blessings of God, and the next person who has an open mind will get them. Make sure that open-minded person is you.
