Are you looking for a big time? Find a local Happy Hour! God is using His Church to reach people and redefine Happy Hour!
They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, and You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.
(Ps. 36:8 NKJV)
I don’t blame people for looking forward to “Happy Hour,” to get a little respite from this crazy, dog-eat-dog world. After all, when you find a place where ‘everyone knows your name,’ you ‘get high with the help of your friends’ and you can ‘rock and roll all night and party every day’ – who wouldn’t look forward to that? I know what you’re thinking. You think I’m talking about the Silver Dollar Saloon, the Way Side Bar or Cheers. I’m not.

I’m talking about Church! I love looking forward to "Happy Hour" every weekend (and most weekdays!) at church! Are you looking for a place where everyone (or most everyone) knows your name? How about a place where you can get intoxicated and live under the influence of the Most High? When it comes to rock and roll, and a big party every day – there’s no secular band that can come close to touching the Rock. Not to mention the roll of an anointed, passionate worship team.

Are you looking for a big time? Find a local Happy Hour! God is using His Church to take people from a life of sin and depression, hurt and brokenness, rejection and loneliness, dissatisfaction and emptiness, to life and joy, healing and wholeness, approval and friendship, satisfaction and fulfillment. It’s been said, "God loves us enough to reach us where we’re at, but He loves us too much to let us stay there!" It's true and He's using His Church to reach people and redefine Happy Hour!

Of course, we shouldn't be surprised; this has been God’s plan all along. Check out Psalm 36, “They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, and You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.” (Ps. 36:8, NKJV)

They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house: Did you know that “to be abundantly satisfied” literally means: “to be satiated or saturated; to be drunk, be intoxicated and to drench.” The phrase, “With the fullness of Your house” means the blessing and the fatness of God’s House, the local church. God wants us to be satiated, saturated, drunk, intoxicated and drenched with the blessings that come from His House! Sounds like Happy Hour to me!

You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures:
Did you know that God has a river that flows from His throne to our very lives? He promises that when we are connected to His House, He will provide us with a steady stream of drinks from His river of pleasures! The word “pleasures” is the Hebrew word: “eden” – remember that place? It literally means: “luxury, dainty, delight, finery.” God wants His people to experience the pleasures of luxury, delight and the finer things as we drink from His river! This happens when we are a part of His House! Sounds like a big, honkin’ Happy Hour!

Today, if you ‘can’t get no satisfaction,’ get connected to His House – a thriving, growing, loving local church – and Jesus will take you to Happy Hour!

Say It:
Father, I have tried to find satisfaction in everything this world offers. I have not found a lasting Happy Hour anywhere. Today, I see that You have put Your blessing on Your House and I am going to hook up, reconnect and recommit to a local church. I will take off all my preconceived ideas, past experiences, biased attitudes and I will seek You. Thank You for leading me to a lasting Happy Hour! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
