Social media has completely changed most of our lives. For some people, it has become their preferred mode of communication to keep up with friends and family. However, so many people are so busy on Facebook, that the need to put their face in the book—the Holy Bible. If you believe that you have some imbalance in your life in this area, please accept this 2012 Facebook challenge.

One of my 2011 goals was to read the Bible through its entirety, but around May, I realized that I had made a pitiful attempt to be committed to doing so. In June, I finally decided to do it, and it really changed me. Sure, I had done my normal daily devotions, but I could never commit to reading the Bible all the way through. I’d always fall short. Maybe you can relate.

Once I started, it struck me that I was six months behind. I was discouraged, but I calculated that I needed to complete four days of reading for every one day. That meant two days in the morning and two at night. Once I got started, it became a habit. When I skipped a day, boy did I notice it. I got obsessed with trying to reach my goal of completing the entire thing by December 31st.

I'm proud to say that I met my goal! I cried like a baby. I felt so good about myself. I wish I could say that it was easy, but it wasn’t. Many days I didn't feel like reading (especially the Old Testament). However, when we prioritize reading God's word as a complete work, we will see a beautiful love story like none other. Not only that, you will begin to hunger more for God’s presence and what His plan is for your life.

Of course, the enemy will attack you with laziness and busyness, but keep going. All things are possible! This year is 2012. I believe that if I did it once in six months, then I should be able to read it twice in 12 months. So, that’s what I’m going to do. What are you going to do?
