For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you….
(Jer. 29:11-14 NLT)
People seek a lot of different things in life. Some seek fame and fortune, others seek the latest thrill, while others seek fulfillment that never satisfies. All that seeking can lead a person pretty frustrated. But there is something, or really someone, so much greater that we should be seeking. You see, God promises that if we seek Him we will find Him. Finding or coming to know God in a personal way is a pretty amazing promise.

Let me share with you three things that you will find out about God when you seek Him with all of your heart.

(1) God is good.
The first thing you’ll find is that God is good and He is good all the time. Here’s what the Bible shows us about His goodness:

“You are good and do only good; teach me your decrees.” (Ps. 119:68 NLT)

“O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for ALL who ask for your help.” (Ps. 86:5 NLT)

One of our instructors in Bible School used to tell us to always stay on God’s side; I’ve found that to be some pretty good advice.

(2) God is just.
The second thing you’ll find is that God is fair and just. God in His divine wisdom created us with a free will. We can either seek Him, or not. It’s up to us. We have the right to either accept Him or reject Him. It’s up to us. You can’t get any fairer than that.

“Then at last everyone will say, “There truly is a reward for those who live for God; surely there is a God who judges justly here on earth.”’ (Ps. 58:11 NLT)

(3) God is love.
The third thing you will find is that God loves you! Pure and simple. You see, the love of God is so much more than an attribute...it’s who He is. It is His very nature. An unselfish love that is difficult for a lot of us to wrap our minds around, but nonetheless it’s a reality that He wishes that we experience.

“We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.” (1 John 4:16 NLT)

Say It: Father, You said that if we seek You we will find You. Help me to know You in a fresh and new way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
